Our Work

The YDJC is a group of passionate individuals with a vision of a better future for our community. Here is what we have done so far in our fight to achieve that reality.

First YDJC Meeting

This was a pivotal moment for our organization. On this day, we founded the Young Democrats of Jackson County. This was made possible with the help of local individuals and the Young Democrats of North Carolina.

YDJC Save the Bees!

At this event, we went to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Steam Fest and set up shop to inform the community about our favorite residents… BEES! We had sunflowers, native seeds, handmade bracelets, and special buttons.

Hands Off Protest

On this day, we joined our community in fighting fascism by saying, “Hands Off”. This administration has consistently tried to take away our Constitutional rights and we will never back down to ensure everyone is protected.

No Kings Protest!

This protest served as a reminder of the checks and balances within the United States. This administration has shown they believe they are above the law. We will never bow down to a fascist wanna-be king

Writing to our Representatives

As citizens, it is our duty to hold our representatives accountable in representing us accurately. In order to uphold that standard we hosted a letter writing event. We will not remain silent when tyranny is at our back door.

Volunteering at the Community Garden

Community gardens are the back bone to Western North Carolina. The Cullowhee Community Garden is open to the public and one of the sources that donates to our food banks. We were honored to spend time cleaning up pathways, filling the water tanks, and taking time to ourselves in nature.

North Carolina District 11 Gala

We had the privilege to attend the NC District 11 Gala in order to show how young people will change the way we know politics. We were able connect with District 11 Congressional seat candidates and enjoy some great company of other Young Democrats in our area.
